Spero Performing Arts

Arts

Spero builds community, fosters character development, and encourages creative potential for youth in the community by providing an experience in theatre education and performance in a positive environment. Spero believes in the power of music and the arts. Whether a child is on stage or learning how to run a lighting board, we believe they can walk away with skills that will be applicable throughout their lives.

After the Harvest

Environmental Awareness

After the Harvest (ATH) rescues nutritious fruits and vegetables from going to waste and donates them to agencies that serve hungry people, primarily in Greater Kansas City. Our volunteers glean after the harvest, picking what’s left in farmers’ fields and picking up already harvested leftover produce. The majority of the funds we raise helps secure semi-truckloads of donated produce that might otherwise end up in landfills.

Hope International University Pantry

Health & Wellness

According to the 2019 College and University Basic Needs Insecurity, up to 45% of college students surveyed reported they experienced food insecurity in the previous 30 days. As a result, Hope International University has established a food pantry on campus as a free resource for any student who does not have enough to eat. The “HOPE Pantry” has been stocked and opened, and several students already have benefitted.
